Welcome!

The Ethnographic Museum Braşov is dedicated to the regional ethnology of the southeastern Transylvania, illustrating with its valuable heritage the civilization of the rural community in the ethnographic areas: Bran, Rupea, Olt Country, Hârtibaciului Valley, Bârsa Country.

The museum was established in 1990, continuing the activity of the Ethnography Section (established in 1967) of the Regional Museum Braşov, a museum established in 1950 by bringing together the collections of the Saxon Museum of the Bârsa County and of the Museum of the ASTRA Cultural Association.

The heritage of the Ethnographic Museum Braşov is exhibited today in both its headquarters in Braşov and its subsidiaries in Săcele and Rupea.

The newest branch, the Urban Civilization Museum of Braşov, illustrates the way of life of the urban residents between the 16th and the 19 centuries.
